Wedge Issue
In the end they will pull abortion and gay marriage and everything else.
Sarah Palin says that the child from rape or incest can be adopted. Here is adoption in George Bush/GOP America: http://www.amfor.net/KillerAdopters/ And consider the date of each story. It was Bush post 9/11 America where "small government" did not staff adoption agencies or CPS agencies. |

RE: Wedge Issue
The wedge issues only play to the far conservative base, which wouldn't vote for Obama anyway. There is only one thing that most middle America wants to hear right now and that is how to get out from under the financial crunch. How to stimulate the economy without spending billions of dollars of taxpayer money on schemes. They want to hear what will be done about health care, being driven out of insurance policies when they get sick, this sort of stuff. Wedge issues only work in years where everything is good and equal. This isn't that year.

RE: Wedge Issue
Well, she played the abortion card tonight:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/11/c...nnSTCVideo They are going after him on the "punished with a baby" line. I am a Christian and I continue to be troubled by the disconnect on the premarital sex versus abortion issue. You can find places in the Bible that puts fornication out of marriage as a sin. But with the unwed teen mother, raped female, or any other pregnancy scenario the right ignores all other sins and focuses on the need for government mandated carrying of the child full term to stop the sin of abortion. Every God fearing, Atheist, or Agnostic US female has a right to choose the outcome from their body. I know one thing to be true. Ill conceived wars create worse outcomes for fetuses than abortions do. |

That video clip horrifies me on a number of levels, but most significantly in that Palin stands up there and preaches about the inherent worth and potential of every child, yet she's just proudly sent her own son to wage war on Iraqi children. I really can't say any more on this topic without shaking and spitting with anger at the hypocrisy of the position that "every child" excludes so many innocents across the world. May we come to our senses and stop killing the living! |

RE: Wedge Issue
That's the one thing I could never understand about the pro-life people. Palin said during her debate for governor that she would not support any government action that would condone death, whether it was abortion for rape victims or right-to-die situations for terminal patients. Fair enough, but I don't understand how she then can also support war which by it's very definition condones death. The hypocrisy boggles the mind.
