I would prefer him to just give up giving interviews and press conferences - Does the WH not have a cupboard or broom closet they can store him in for 9 months? Just to get him out of sight?

Look at all of Congress and the Senate. Most of them are crooks and have police records. Bush did not lie as you claim. A lie is an intention to deceive.
