Hillary's "white working people" remark
Look, I'm not a Hillary supporter. I think her campaign for the last several weeks has been out of control -- some of the meanest, most vile, political venom that the planet has ever known. I'm an Obama supporter.
But listen, when Hillary makes a statement of fact regarding what her constituent voting blocks are, and identifies them as white people with certain other demographics as well, she's NOT being racist -- she's just describing where she believes her support is coming from. She's saying nothing more than that, plain and simple. The media, always looking to cause trouble and move the country backward rather than forward, jumps all over her comment and attempts to portray it as racist -- I don't know why; maybe it's just a clever, subversive tactic to keep us all down in the swamp fighting each other instead of poking our heads up once in a while to see how the media powers and their ilk are controlling us all. I'm just so tired of being manipulated -- by the politics of the past, and by the media muck and mire. But, please, don't think for one minute that Hillary is a racist. She's way out of control as a campaigner, but she's not a racist. |

However. She is totally wrong. Indiana. 9% African American. You know not all that percentage voted for Sen. Obama due to age or whatever. So let's say 5% did vote for him. He got 49.something% of the vote. So who made up the rest of that percentage??? He isn't really that far from 50% and that has been enough to win in elections of the recent past. He has gained on women and the older demographic. I also think that people just need to see him in person. She didn't really need to make the comment since it isn't true but that is just me. I don't actually pay much attention to exit polls...or polls for that matter. |

RE: Hillary's "white working people" remark
Here is Hillary's exact quote:
“You know, there was just an AP article posted that found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans is weakening again and how the whites in both states (Indiana and North Carolina) who had not completed college were supporting me and in independents, I was running even with him and doing even better with Democratic-leaning independents. I have a much broader base to build a winning coaltion on.” She seems to be painting the imagery of "hard-working" white Americans. Is it reasonable to assume that its the "lazy whites" and the blacks who are for Obama? Who are the "hard-working whites"? The exit polls have described them as "blue collar", under 50 K per year income, and not college graduates. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24264518/ So all whites who are making over 50K a year and/or college grads are lazy? And how about the >90% of blacks voting for Obama. Are they lazy too? I honestly do not know (and frankly unsure if we will ever find out) what HRC's beliefs are about race. For me, however, the conclusion is inescapable that this statement was made by HRC to divide voting Democrats by race and socioeconomics and continue to invite Limbaugh's Operation Chaos to add its effect to the Democrat's Primary. I am sure the imagery will help her margins in West Virginia and Kentucky. |

RE: Hillary's "white working people" remark
NewsJunkie may be correct in saying Hillary is not racist. Who can really know?
But that is totally beside the point for me. What she said is clear evidence that her entire mind-set about people and her perspective on politics is a thing of the past. She is of a dying breed of politician ....or at least of the breed that needs to die out. Enough of this divisive mentality! I don't hear Obama making an issue of the skin color (or gender) of his supporters as a way of proving his electability. His stated position on race has only been to have an open dialogue about it....not to count people like colored jelly beans for his own political gain. Hillary must know she can still do her good for the country from outside the oval office, probably even moreso. But her tenacious grasping for the presidency is starting to look like narcissim, rather than a real desire to serve. GWBush has already proven that doesn't get us anywhere...in fact, it takes us backwards. It must be the "Legacy Factor" with some of these people. |

And it didn't help to have Bill out there telling W VA that the media and the Obama campaign are laughing at them and calling them stupid. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/...index.html Scroll down to "Bill Clinton's Message to Rural America." Some will say it is just politics but my question would be why? Why does it have to be like this? It just makes me tired... |

RE: Hillary's "white working people" remark
I agree that is wasn't the "white people" part but the "hard working"...so I'm white but not blue collar...does that mean I'm not hard working?? Are others that aren't white not hard working? That is the part that completely offended me.
