Texas Debate - Cheers
They cheered for Barack, and they cheered for Hil,
But the cheers for Hil were kind of shrill.
At the end, I saw Chelsea, but where was Bill?
Hillary did give a nice farewell speech at the end, but apparently her compassion for her fellow human beings extends only as far as the political boundaries of the good old U.S.A. By contrast, Senator Obama, while exhibiting great concern for his fellow Americans, is a true world citizen, who feels the same compassion even for Cubans and other nationalities who have endured political oppression for decades. And his caring nature for people appears to transcend the flaws of their governments. Wow, what a concept! We might actually improve the human condition by understanding and quietly negotiating with foreign governments instead of twisting their arms until they cry "Uncle (Sam)!" The arm-twisting doesn't work anymore; just ask "W".

You made some good points. You are much more substantive that the pundants I am listening to right now. I would also add Barack's remark about withholding dialog with the American President as if we are better than leaders of other countries, and how this attitude has been hurting us internationally.

Cheers -- how about boos.

"That's not change you can believe in. That's change you can ZEROX." Leave it to the Clintons to demonize change. And how about those boos?

And speaking of "change you can ZEROX", didn't the end of her speech sound an awful lot like the words of former President Clinton in a speech he gave in 1992? The one where he says, "we're going to be okay. I'm just worried about the American people."

I hope she's not trying to steal the Obama strategy of plagarizing their own speechwriters. Because that would be just plain wrong.

The problem with the Clintons' highly paid political strategists is that they honestly truly believe that their charges of plagiarism will result in a news story that has legs. They're still living in a bygone era in which it's practically a sin to use the content of someone else's speech, even when it most appropriately addresses the issue under discussion. So, when it comes to the internet age of myspace and YouTube, in which content is cut and pasted from anywhere and everywhere to compose new, more targeted content, they just don't get it. Obama's supporters -- even some of us boomers -- understand how, in this age of information, it's possible and perfectly acceptable to give an appropriate response using content already produced by another like-minded individual. My hunch is that even those old and crusty Clintons know this and they're just using the politics of the past in attempt to create issues out of non-issues.
Or, maybe they just own stock in Xerox and this is their latest innovation -- product placement in campaign rhetoric!

That was actually the part that sounded like a speech by John Edwards. "I don't worry about us. We will be okay. It's the American people I worry about." One of Bill's speech sounded like the part "I can take the hits. I worry about the American people"

I would say that closing, which some people liked because Hillary showed some warm for a few minutes, was like a Bill Clinton/John Edwards remix.

It also demonstrates the power of words, and that great orators often do paraphrase good phrases.

RE: Texas Debate - Cheers
Apparently the kind hearted gesture of being honored to share the same stage with Obama turned to pure poison today. Apparently a few months ago, the Obama campaign released two brochures that said that Hilary supported her husband signing NAFTA and that in her heath care plan, everyone has to pay, whether they can afford it or not. Clinton said it was false info and that Obama should be ashamed of himself. When asked why it is that she just said something today, she said she only found out about it when someone showed it to her. So she's running around the stage complaining that he's cheating. Now this would hold a bit more weight for me, if it wasn't for her trying to cheat with the delegate count. Especially for something that may be true (NAFTA) and the other maybe a misunderstanding.

So much for the peaceful campaigning, at least for the Clinton side. Obama stayed pretty calm in reply to her tirade. Cool under pressure isn't a bad thing and it just makes Clinton seem like a baby.

Sunken, here is the video of Hillary's shameless tirade:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kzBvK2BFAw

I think this is the end of the Clinton's reign. It is becoming obvious that neither Clinton has the self-control left that any president SHOULD have. Barack has done very well with that. Like you said Sunken, it is pretty much bogus that Hillary did not know about this brochure....I mean COME ON!!! she didnt know>????!!! YEAH RIGHT!! She is so full of it... this is the Clinton machine eating itself alive. Hillary has been more "republican like" than any other democrat has been.....and she knows it.

Yes but they gave Hillary a standing ovation!!! Looks like Obama has learned how to play dirty politics real quick, how is that change? Sounds like same old politics to me.
By the way the last time I went for a Job interview I needed some experience, I guess that's not a requirement for the President of the United States anymore! All you need is some charisma, a good speech writer and Oprah and you're in like Flynn. All the African Americans that have supported him and he can't even be bothered to go to The State of the Black Union address today!! Shame on him.

Obama has a lifetime of experience in community service at every level - local, state, federal. Charisma is spelled like that, and the cliche is "in like Flint."

There is need for better public education, indeed.
